| Your account will be reviewed before it is listed in the ranking list. The only types of sites that will be rejected from the Stitching Top Sites ranking list are sites not predominately about stitching. When referring to this site, instead of typing Stitching Top Sites over and over, I will refer to the site as STS Q: How do I join? A: You must create an account which involves filling out a simple form with information which is relevant to your web site. Q: How is a sites ranking determined? A: STS ranks sites by the number of times visitors click on the STS banner from YOUR site. By clicking on the STS banner from your site, your visitor is casting an "In" vote for your site Q: Can I vote for my own site? A: Yes. You can vote for your own site once every 24 hours. Q: Does the ranking have anything to do with how many out votes my site has? A: No. The 'Out' count shows the number of people STS has sent to your site. Where you rank in the list is determined by how many 'In' votes you have, not how many out counts your site has. Q: How often is the ranking list updated? A: The rankings are updated every 20 minutes and are reset to zero every month. Q: Can any type of web site join? A: No. Your web site must be predominantly a stitching.(needlework) site. Q: If I own two sites can I add both? A: Yes. Q:If I have a message board, photo to chart, or some other kind of service which is also on my main site can I add them to the database as well? A: Yes as long as you add them to the approapiate category. You must create a new account for each service you want to add. If you are adding a service that I don't have a category for, place it in the Miscellaneous category. The description for each service must be different from the description of your main webiste. When creating a new account for your service, you must use the direct URL for page of your service, not your main website URL. Q: I added my site but it's not showing in the ranking list. Why? A: The ranking list updates every 20 minutes. Your site will not be shown until the next update. Q:After the list has reset, my sitte is not showing in the ranking list. Why? A: Your site must send hits back to this site. If you don't put the voting code on a page at your web site, you won't get any votes, so your site will not be listed. Q: My banner is showing as being broken! A: Be sure the link you supplied to your banner is correct. Also note that all banner sizes must be 468 x 60. Q: Can I still join if I don't have a banner? A: Yes! A banner is not essential to join the STS ranking list. Q: How does the Featured Site of the moment work? A: Every 20 minutes when the ranking list is updated a random site will be chosen from one of the accounts will be featured. This is an attempt to give every site some exposure no matter where you are listed in the ranking. Q: How do I find out my password if I forgot it? A: Click on the Account Login button. When the next page loads click on the link Forgot your password? Enter the email address you registered with when you created your account. Your password will then be sent to you. Q: Can I get statistics for my account? A: Yes. Login to your account and choose the "Display Stats" option. Q: Where do I find the HTML voting code to place on my site? A: Login to your account and choose the "Display Link Syntax" option from the drop-down menu. Q: My site has vanished from the ranking list! A: You must place the voting code on your site. Sites without a voting code will be suspended from the ranking list until the voting code has been placed on your site. Q: I have the banner exchange code on my site but I am not listed in the ranking! A: You must place the ranking list code on your site. The banner exchange code is not the same code as the voting code. If you joined the ranking list and the banner exchange, you must place the code for each service on your site as both codes are different.. |
